Call to Care

There are many different ways to get involved and help our efforts through Call To Care Uganda. Here are a few ideas:

become an advocate (a.k.a. – join the team)
Are you in the CT Shoreline area and would you like to join our group? Or, do you live somewhere else in the state or country and know how to help? We are located in Madison and meet monthly. We have so many opportunities to connect you in so you can help us make a difference too. Reaching out to others globally is a very rewarding experience – both for you and for those you help! Sound intriguing? Wondering if you have time? It could be a couple times a year or as often as you’d like. The choice is yours. Here’s a form outlining involvement:

donate
This one is so obvious and straightforward, but paramount to CTCU being able to accomplish our goals. There is no amount too little or too great. Giving from your abundance will make a difference in a life – no question about it!

speaking engagements
Do you like the message that our organization brings forward and want to help spread the word? If so, invite us to your school, a board meeting, your church, your civic group’s monthly, a company charitable committee meeting, your book group, your women’s or men’s club…mom’s group…you get the idea! We have a wonderful presentation complete with beautiful slides taken in Uganda illustrating projects that are completed and those in the works. Allowing us to be the “voice” for the children we represent gives us the greatest pleasure. Sharing our organization with others is where miracles begin…

school sponsorship
What is the School Sponsorship Program?
Call To Care Uganda’s school sponsorship program is designed to help connect impoverished schools in Uganda with individuals and groups (schools, churches, clubs, families) in the US. By providing support to the school as a whole, instead of to individually sponsored children, the entire community can be lifted up to succeed and an ongoing relationship can be created.

What does it mean to participate?
Creating a relationship with a school through Call To Care Uganda could be as simple as setting up pen pal letter correspondence. We will help facilitate communication between you and the students at the school by handling the shipment of correspondence (letters, photos, etc.) sent back and forth. Sending letters in bulk saves money and facilitates the entire process. If you or your group chooses to help in other ways, that is fantastic! Ongoing sponsorship of the school is so urgently needed, and also generosity towards each school’s “wish list” is graciously welcomed.

You can make a difference
Did you know that some children have never received a letter in their lives? What a thrill it is for them to hear from a pen pal friend in the US and know that they have not been forgotten and that you care about them and their well-being. This relationship and connection has dramatic impact on their lives and on their education. Assistance to schools can be as simple as writing letters or as significant and you would like to pursue.

How does it work?
By visiting Uganda, Call To Care Uganda has identified a number of schools that urgently need you’re your support. Currently, we are looking for sponsors for the Mitooma Junior School.

Mitooma Junior School
The Mitooma Junior School is located in Bushenyi, a district in the southwest of Uganda. It is a school for approximately 380 students, with 180 of the students boarding. The school was started by a man named John Kateeba, a CTCU colleague, and accepts students who are poor or orphaned and would otherwise have not chance at going to school. Support for this school comes from families, churches and donations.

The school has many needs in addition to money to support tuition, teachers and food for orphans. Their “wish list” includes:

  • Text books
  • School supplies
  • Computers
  • Internet connection
  • A well to increase their supply of water
  • Safe bunk beds for the dormitories
  • If you or your school or group would like to get involved in this rewarding program, contact Rich Fisler at rfisler@beachhead.com for more information.
