Raising awareness and being the “voice” for children in Uganda is what we love to do. Here are some press features that have helped us to do just that:

Victim of Brutal Attack Gets Help in CT: Uganda Woman Fitted for Prosthetic Hands (Video)
WTNH (News Channel 8), Thursday, July 15, 2010
| On June 22, Call To Care Uganda flew Jonas Tumuhebwe and Jolly Kabigumira to Connecticut from Uganda. CTCU met Jonas in November 2008 in Bushenyi at the Faith Primary School. Jonas had been a victim of a violent crime that left her without any hands and also a widow with six children to care for. Can you even imagine that scenario? With AMAZING CONNECTIONS made through a nurse named Kathy Wargo and Hanger Prosthetics in North Haven, CT, a new life of hope became a reality. Jonas received her new prosthetic hands a few weeks ago and studied and practiced diligently (and with great humor!) to master her skills during her limited stay in the US. Jolly, her dedicated translator, tutor and friend never left her side. These two women captured the hearts of so many here in Connecticut, and are sure to inspire so many others back home in Uganda. Enjoy the news coverage of this story and incredible journey of "helping hands" in Connecticut. |
